Mission Statement
The Cannon staff strives to create a journalistic publication that captures the memories of the year and records them in a well-written, accurate, creative and pleasing manner for its audience.
Philosophy
Students will gain an understanding of the total publication process as they work in all areas of production including photography, design, writing, editing and deadline management. The life skills of communication for interpersonal relationships and time management for prioritizing and meeting deadlines are practiced in a work environment. The yearbook is a student publication. There must be guidelines practiced both ethically and legally by the staff. All students and personnel in the school, as well as the community and other journalistic groups, constitute the audience and should be considered when planning coverage in the book. No material will be printed which is libelous, irresponsible, advocates an illegal activity or which the editorial board and/or the advisor deems in poor taste.
